2nd posting

Today in science I started my 2nd day of working on my presentation. I’m still trying to find out more research info. As I was researching today I found out some statistics on animal testing ex: Approximately 17-22 million animals are used in research each year. That’s a lot of animals used to be testing on. And most of them are Mice and Rats….. there’s a very small portion of dogs and cats that are used. I think it’s about 1.5 percent on dogs and cats being testing. Then for mice & rats it’s about 85-90%.
For lots of my research I usually go to www.peta.org ..so that’s where you can find more information on statistics..etc… if you’re interested :] ~

Animal Testing

For my topic I decided to research the integumentary system. And my topic was Animal Testing.

Did you know Animals have been used in testing for over 2,000 years?

Over the last few years animal testing has dropped because of the pressure from Animal Right Activists. However most makeup brands/companies still animal test. Lots of brands that animal test are sold at Wal-Mart (ex; Cover Girl). There are so few makeup brands that don’t support animal testing. Some of those brands are: Avon Cosmetics, Aveda, Clinique Makeup and Estee. What most people probably don’t realize is the fact that every year, cosmetics companies kill millions of animals to test their products. And the animals they test range everywhere from mice - dogs. It’s terrible & as some people say ‘inhumane’.

Even though some cosmetics are labelledcruelty freeor not tested on animals it does not mean that the product in them was not tested on animals…
The Company can claim that the products themselves weren’t tested on animals, when another company actually used animals to test the ingredients used in the product.
